Major Laurens Road makeover to break ground this summer

Verdae Development Inc. aims to break ground on Bolden Street District, a 90-acre, mixed-use development between Laurens Road and the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail, in late summer 2026.

The project will establish a dynamic community hub on the east side of the corridor from Haywood Road past Verdae Commons Drive in Greenville. Existing strip malls and vacant lots would be redeveloped into a mix of residences, retail, office, dining, entertainment and recreation spaces.

The vision for Bolden Street District was unveiled in April 2025 following a multiyear planning effort by Verdae Development Inc. and its parent company, Hollingsworth Funds. Hollingsworth Funds owns the 90 acres of land slated for redevelopment along Laurens Road.

“We look to create a destination that combines residential, office, food and beverage, and open space that people want to come to and that’s very welcoming for the entire community,” said Dan Klausner, CEO of Verdae Development.

Bolden Street District is anticipated to be completed across several phases over the next 10 to 15 years. In the coming months, the development team will focus on finishing the project’s design and pre-construction phase in preparation for the start of site work and infrastructure installation
