Hollingsworth Funds Invites Urban Land Institute Advisory Panel to Review Laurens Road Property

Greenville, SC – Hollingsworth Funds, a community-wide funder for Greenville County has invited an Advisory Panel from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to visit Greenville October 27-November 1, 2019 to study approximately 90-acres of property on Laurens Road within the Verdae Masterplan area. The panel will review market and demographic detail, interview a cross-

section of community stakeholders, and provide ideas for development consideration. The exercise offers an opportunity to learn more as an organization, a community, and to assist in reshaping a corridor destined for redevelopment.

“As a foundation that owns a significant amount of developable acres of prime real estate along the Laurens Road corridor, Hollingsworth Funds recognizes its unique opportunity to continue the creation of vibrant development that captures financial value for its endowment, while also delivering meaningful community impact that addresses Greenville’s needs,” said Gage Weekes, Hollingsworth Funds President and CEO. “To assist in this visioning process, we’ve engaged this impressive group of professionals to help us cultivate ideas that can help us meet our important dual goal.”

ULI is a global, multidisciplinary real estate organization whose work is driven by 45,000-plus members dedicated to responsible land use and sustainable communities. The renowned Advisory Panel Program endeavors to provide a strategic analysis and recommendations for next-generation development.

According to Thomas Eitler, senior vice president of ULI’s Advisory Services Program, the strength of the program lies in ULI’s unique ability to draw on the substantial knowledge of its members, including land developers, economists, engineers, public officials, academics, lenders, architects, planners and urban designers. “The independent views of the panelists bring a fresh perspective to the land use challenge,” Eitler said.

Alex Rose, Senior Vice President, with Continental Development Corporation in El Segundo, California and long-time ULI member and Trustee, will chair the panel. Rose, a veteran of 30 such panel assignments, says “we are excited and honored to be asked by Hollingworth Funds to help them scope out a future for this corridor. I applaud the community for having the openness and curiosity to invite strangers into their neighborhoods to help them think, plan, and innovate for the future.”

During the final day of the Advisory Panel’s visit, the advisory board will present their thoughts and ideas to Hollingsworth Funds for consideration.
