GREENVILLE, S.C. —
A 92-acre mixed-use development called the Bolden Street District is officially underway in Greenville County, located along one of the county’s busiest corridors, Laurens Road.
With the swing of a sledgehammer, the project marked its official start Wednesday morning.

“These types of communities are about us building places for families to come to and create memories,” said Dan Klausner, CEO of one of the project’s major developers, Verdae Development Inc.
The vision for Bolden Street District has been years in the making, with planning led by Verdae Development and Greenville’s city and county governments.
The project aims to bring new opportunities to the area for businesses and families alike.
“If you come to this side of town, when you look at what we’re surrounded by, residentially, we’re in a little bit of a desert,” said Klausner. “Bringing some of those things that you see, maybe things you see downtown, we can replicate.”
The development will include what Klausner referred to as “experiential entertainment” options, such as theaters, mini-golf, and pickleball venues. Klausner also emphasized the importance of community input in shaping the project.
“How often do you have a blank canvas? 92 acres to do whatever you want, bring all new things, all new exciting things, listen to the community. What does the community want?” said Klausner.
While it will take time for the project to go vertical, the first phase will focus on foundational infrastructure to support the work in the years ahead.
“That’s the fun of it, it’s a blank canvas and we’re open to all things,” Klausner said.
